Pumba? Really?

Okay, maybe one post about work....maybe just one. So, I have some of the best students ever; I just want to throw that out there for the world to read.

Everyday, during fourth block, I have students come in for extra help. In particular, I have one student that comes in everyday. Grades have risen from 30's to 80's, and a lot of learning has taken place!
I am a extremely proud of this student! Great, tremendous job! Anyway, to the point of my story, I was working with this student one day, and I did something silly as usual. Then my student said something that made me laugh. The story goes like this:

I did something silly. My student laughed.

"oh, Ms. Cahoons you make me laugh. You remind me of someone."

"Who do I remind you of?"

"Someone from The Lion King, you know one of Simba's friends....THE PIG!"

"PUMBA! I remind you of PUMBA! I thought surely TIMON, but PUMBA!"

"Yeah, you are funny Ms. Cahoons."

"Do I smell? Do I look like a warthog? I know I bump into things a lot....but...."

"No, no, Ms. Cahoons, you are just very funny."

So, there you have it folks. I remind people of Pumba from Walt Disney's The Lion King. I surely thought that she was going to say Timon the fast talking, witty friend OR Rafiki, or Mufasa, or Nala! Anyone but Pumba! But I guess I will take what I can get. Pumba? Really? I am still shaking my head. I love my students.
