Alright, this is the wedding post. I have to tell you that I have been putting it off. Don't ask me why, because I couldn't tell you. Well, every girl knows what happens after she is proposed to and she says yes.......planning. The word hate does not describe how I loath wedding planning. What's wrong with just a bbq in the back yard and people bring gifts? If I ever get married again (to the same man of course...) that is what I am going to do. So, because I hate that part of weddings, we are going to skip it in this post....other than to say how much I despise it. Well, I guess I will say this....I married the most understanding man ever. I have never cried so much in my entire life than when I was engaged to Tim, and every time I cried he was there trying to make me feel better. He is a great man. Alright, now we are going to skip to March 17th 2012.
Alright, now on to the glorious day. I woke up that morning and had my hair done by my fabulous best friend Maren Dille, and my make up done by another amazing best friend Chelsea Lynn. Then we took off in a four car caravan to drive to Manhattan (the Manhattan Temple that is!!). We had to drive a little faster than usual because we were running late. We are girls; it is what we do. (Did I mention that my best friends Maren, Kati, and Chelsea flew or drove across the country to come to my wedding! And that my future sister-in-law Kate drove up from PA, and my good friend Rachel who saw me through my tears was there! and my friend Hayley came up from the City...something she never does! I am very blessed with good friends)
When we got to the temple, the men were waiting on us. Tim looked extremely handsome in his suit. I will have to post more pictures later! Not a bad one of Tim in the bunch! We went into the temple and got signed in. Took a couple of breathes and I went to get changed. Now, there is debate over wearing your wedding dress or wearing a temple dress when you are sealed. Every girl is different. I chose to get sealed in my wedding dress. If I only got to wear the dress once.....I was going to wear it ALL DAY LONG. My dress was beautiful, and it curved in all of the right places. As a disclaimer....when I tried it on the first time I did not have cleavage! However, on that day, I had some issues; so, I apologize for the appearance of the girls every once in awhile.
I should add that when it was time for me to get dressed, my mom was a little nervous about helping me herself. So, we pulled Rachel Clark in to be the clutch player. So, I got ready with my mom and Rachel. It was marvelous! Then we headed up to the sealing rooms. I have to tell you that one of my favorite parts of the Manhattan temple is the walk to the sealing rooms. There is a long hallway that is gorgeous. Every girl should take the walk. You will feel like a queen.
Our sealing was beautiful. Brother Morgenegg sealed us. It was on March 17th 42 years ago that he had married his wife, and it was a beautiful day for them as well. Brother Morgenegg said some beautiful things that I will try not to forget....because I was a little distracted as he was speaking. After Brother Morgenegg spoke, Tim and I took the walk to the altar. I almost tripped getting there....I am a clutz. What can I say? It made everything seem like it was just for us. Our sealing room was full of friends and family. I cannot tell you how blessed I felt to have so many of our loved ones there when we were sealed. I felt the love, we will put it that way. I am so excited for eternity with Tim. I am a blessed girl.
After we were sealed, the whole gang went outside to take some pictures in front of the Manhattan Temple. Everything was magical. Tim and posed with family and friends. Not to mention, the best part of getting married at the Manhattan Temple, we got a hot dog from the vendor that is always outside of the temple as per Clark request and tradition. Another one of my best friends, Kati Ellis, took our pictures. I promised her that I would never ask her to take pictures at my wedding years ago, and when I needed her, she was there. Thank you Kati!!
After pictures, we all headed back to Poughkeepsie for the wedding reception. Again, the reception was beautiful. I had lots of help getting everything done. A huge THANK YOU to Kate and Rachel. I could not have survived without you!! Thank you to Aunt Lisa, Aunt Kara, and Gail for the beautiful candy table. It was perfect. Thank you to Bill Hettinger for putting up our white sealing in gym. It would not have looked like a wedding without it. Thank you to Lisa Capolla and her girls for our beautiful cake. They made a cake that looked like it was worth 2,000 dollars....and that is not what we paid for it. They have definite cake skills. Thank you to all of the ladies that saved me in the kitchen, you are wonderful. And thank you to Jen Payne for being in charge of that! Thank you to the young women for serving the food. Thank you to Rachel and Kate for the prelude music! I will document it here or I will not document it.....I walked in to "when I fall in love" for the ring ceremony. Thank you to Sister Morgenegg for sewing the table squares for me! Thank you to the stake YW for allowing me to use their twinkle lights! Thank you to Gail Cotter for all of the help with the food! Thank you to Grandma, Heidi, and Sister Campbell for the pasta salad! Thank you to everyone that helped with the wedding! OH, Thank you to all of the ladies that put together my bridal shower! It was awesome. I should probably write a separate post about it. Thank you, thank you , thank you everyone. I cannot express how loved and taken care of I felt and still feel.
At the reception, we started with a ring ceremony. Most of our families are not LDS; so, we wanted to talk about why we got married in the temple. My dad officiated as the Bishop, and he said a few words about the importance of temples, and why LDS people get married there. He was so nervous. My dad doesn't get nervous. It was so cute. Then Tim and I spoke and exchanged rings. Short and sweet. After that, the music played and everyone had a blast. I should mention who the best men were and the brides maids....the best men were Randy Pendlebury, Jason Cahoon, and Matt Cotter. David Cotter would have been up there as well, but he is in Korea right now serving our country. Love you David! The brides maids were my sisters: Linda, Diana, and Kate.
When Tim and I cut the cake, I could not help but get him a little messy. Not to mention that Randy made me promise that I would do it. Tim got me back though- so all is even. I tossed my bouquet and many single ladies tried to grab for it. Danielle Hawks was the winner. She is an awesome girl. I had her in YW for a couple of years, and that girl is a rock. Tim tossed the garter as well....and a 9 year old boy caught it. His mom was not very happy with us!
After the festivities, Tim and I took off to start our married life!
I know that this was a long post, and probably should have been longer, but I write this blog not only for the enjoyment of readers...but kind of as a journal for myself of life events. If I don't write it here-- I don't write it down, and I do not want to forget how wonderful that day was.
I think that I will feel loved for the rest of my life. There was such an outpouring of love that I still cannot get over it.
The next post will have to be about the honeymoon to Maine! or our move to Idaho!....I can't decide which.
