Could Bleaching Shirts Be My New Hobby?

So, my dear friends and readers, I have come across something that brings joy to my soul...and that thing is called bleach. Girls camp is just around the corner, and I wanted to do something for my girls that could unify them. So, I decided that they should have matching shirts...but not really matching. Therefore, I went over to Jen Payne's home with 18 green t-shirts. We then proceeded to tie rubber bands around them in creative ways. We even used a fork to get a swirl effect on the shirt. Then, we dumped watered down bleach on the shirts. We let the bleach soak in, and then we rinsed out the shirts in water. The final step is to wash the shirts. The outcome was AWESOME! I don't have any pictures yet, but I will take some at camp! I would love to experiment with different colors, because when you bleach something you are taking the color out of the shirt not adding to it. Now, this said, you would think that white is the only color that would be left...BUT NO! We bleached green shirts, but the shorter we let the bleach sit, the more blue or turquoise was in the shirt. Pure awesomeness is what it is. I think that you should try it as a weekend project! It is a fun and easy activity. My only caution is to wear gloves when you do it. I mean, we are working with bleach people! TIE DYE ON!
